Adapter
Adapter connects Kernel to the laser interferometer, and adds the compensation term calculated by Kernel to the uncompensated position measured by the laser interferometer.
The functions of Adapter
- Reading the position value from the laser interferometer
- Transmitting the position value to Kernel
- Receiving the most recent compensation term from Kernel
- Adding the compensation term to the position value of the laser interferometer
Main features
| Update rate of reading the laser | 20 MHz on each axis |
|---|---|
| Latency | 114 ns |
| Latency variation | ±5 ns |
| FPGA system frequency | 200 MHz |
Compatibility with laser interferometers
All modern laser interferometers present the position value as a parallel word (32 or 36 bit). To be on the safe side, Adapter was designed to process 36-bit parallel words. Despite the general similarity, due to the different specifications of laser interferometers by different manufactures, it is necessary to develop and manufacture a separate Adapter for each laser interferometer model.
Gradually we will develop Adapters for all popular laser types.
SIOS lasers
At present the new SIOS lasers have an optional built-in AcWaCo-board (manufactured by SIOS according our documentation).
HP/Agilent lasers
There is already an Adapter for HP/Agilent lasers (see the photo above).
Renishaw lasers
There's a preliminary design for the Renishaw RLE system.
